NAHB Green Building Standard
In 2007, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the International Code Council (ICC) partnered to form a national consensus committee in accordance with the requirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The goal was to establish a much-needed, nationally-recognizable standard definition of green building. The resulting ANSI approved ICC-700-2008 NAHB Green Building Standard.
The standard covers subdivisions, individual site design, one and two family dwellings, multi-family and additions to existing homes. Performance ratings that a home can receive under the NAHB Green Building Standard are as follows:
Bronze: 37-81 points
Silver: 82-99 points
Gold: 100+ points
