About enhanced expanded polystyrene

The Fullback Thermal Support System is manufactured from expanded polystyrene. Ring-shaped molecules of styrene monomer consisting solely of carbon and hydrogen atoms are linked together to form the polymer called polystyrene. Expanded polystyrene is made using hydrocarbon blowing agents.

Styrene occurs naturally and is found in many foods and beverages, such as milk, coffee, beer, strawberries, tomatoes, olives and nuts. It is approved by the FDA for use as a flavoring agent and also for use in food packaging – it has been shown in several studies to be more sanitary than reusable ware. EPS has been proven to be a safe, highly effective compound providing excellent thermal insulation and sturdiness.

Proving superior performance

To claim that the Fullback Thermal Support System is superior to every other vinyl siding underlayment system was not enough for us. We insisted on proving it. We engineered and manufactured all of the components of our contoured foam thermal support system to exceed the highest standards and specifications – those set forth by ASTM International (formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials) and by other "industry standard" organizations. Then, we retained the services of independent testing laboratories and commissioned them to perform a broad series of rigorous tests. We told them to hold nothing back, and challenged them to put our system through its paces.
